Motorola is back again with a new amazing foldable smartphone. The new Motorola Razr 2020 improves some important weaknesses of its ancestor, especially reducing the annoying gap when the phone was folded closed. Now, the tech giant is trying to deliver its first foldable with a second-generation Razr, which adds 5G support, better cameras, and more competent software. Keep reading to know more.
Under the hood of the new Motorola Razr 2020, you get the Snapdragon 765G chipset this time around, for more performance and higher mobile data speeds. This is paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The overall design of the new Razr seems somewhat related to the first foldable. There’s a 6.2-inch, 21.9:9 foldable display on the inside of the phone, while a 2.7-inch OLED “Quick View” display on the outside provides the access to notifications and other essential functionality.
Within, there’s a number of significant modifications. The processor is a more agile Snapdragon 765G (which assists add 5G support), the RAM has been expanded to 8GB (from 6GB on the primary), the internal storage has been increased to 256GB, and the battery is a more substantial 2,800mAh.
The more notable hardware modifications are the shifting of the fingerprint sensor to the back of the phone (off of the “chin,” where it was found on the original) and totally reconstructed cameras.
Motorola’s main camera (on the outside of the phone) now has 48 megapixels and uses pixel binning to decrease image noise and brighten shots in medium- to low-light conditions. It features optical image stabilization, which provides for longer shutter speeds in low light. The camera also has a time-of-flight sensor to assist with focusing and create portrait mode photos.
Talking about the secondary camera, at the top of the interior display, within the Motorola batwing-shaped screen notch, is an upgraded selfie camera with a 20-megapixel sensor.
The Motorola Razr 2020’s specs are prominently upgraded from its ancestor. While the 6GB of RAM in the Razr 2019 has been improved to 8GB in the brand-new phone, it’s the storage – extended from 128GB to 256GB – that fixes the most significant shortcoming in the original version of the phone.
The brand-new Razr has 256GB of storage and runs Android 10, which makes a slew of innovative and helpful features, particularly to the outside Quick View display. When the phone is locked and closed, just swing your hand over it or tap on the power button to use the outside screen in the Peek Display mode. This allows you to check notifications just by pressing and holding on an icon.
When the phone is closed and unlocked, the Quick View display turns into a mini Android phone. You can swipe down to get to the control panel, swipe up to see the notification shade, swipe to the left to go to the camera, and swipe right to see a grid of apps you’ve selected.
The Motorola Razr 2020 was revealed on September 9, 2020, but still, it did not confirm a release date. Though, it is expected to hit the markets this fall. The Razr 5G price is $1,399 / £1,399 (around AU$1,922), making it slightly more affordable than its ancestor.
